Over the worst of the plague and why my cat is kind of a jerk
While I am mostly over the plague, (yes, I exaggerate a bit) I still have some lingering stuff going on like my cough. I sneeze a lot but once I take my allergy meds, it does help. I know that the sneezing isn't exactly my hay fever acting up, but I think I would be worse off if I didn't take them. I feel well enough to at least get my Halloween stuff out of storage and will be going through all of my decors today. It's the same every year where I find stuff broken, burnt out, needs new batteries, and what I 'need' to replace.
The picture is of my cat, Bean who is enjoying the weather and ready for a nap. I never intended to have my cat named Bean, but there is it thanks to my youngest granddaughter.
My son-in-law had named the 2 cats that my daughter and their kids have. He named one Bastet and the other one Sekhmet. I thought about names for this beauty, concentrating on my family background, which is Nordic and French. I didn't want to have the typical Nordic Goddess names like Freya as it probably has been done to death and actual French Goddess name are hard to come by as normally they all seem to blend together for that region in past history. It is unfortunate as it would be nice to discover another group of gods and goddesses for that area. I did find a few, like Melasine who is the French goddess of fresh water from rivers and holy wells. She is best known as the figure on the Starbucks cups, which those who complain about Starbucks holiday mugs not being more "Christian." It makes me curious how many 'Christians' would have a conniption fit if they knew that.
Then I decided on a Nordic Goddess that isn't usually mentioned, and her name was Eire. (As in 'ire'.) She was one of the healers that are associated with Freya, but what makes her unique is that she is also a Valkyrie. Instead of just leading warriors to Valhalla, she would try to heal them first.
Anywho, I had decided on these names. Nope...my youngest granddaughter fell in love with her tiny form and named her 'Bean' instead. The darn animal won't answer to anything else since then. I normally do not go for female cats, as male cats are known to be a bit more affectionate than females. She's as affectionate with me as much as she wants to be which I have accepted. My former cat was male and he loved to cuddle, while Bean doesn't really fit that category. Still, I love the little shit.
